Introduction:

Rust is the formation of iron oxides, and more particularly to the red oxides that are formed as result of reaction of iron and oxygen in the occurrence of water or air moisture. There are different types of rust formations that show up as the result of reactivity of iron and the chloride in an oxygen free environment. The chemical constitution of rust is hydrated iron (III) oxides Fe2O3·nH2O and iron (III) oxide-hydroxide FeO (OH)·Fe(OH)3.

Rusting inside fuel tank creates loose particles of rust which can choke the fuel line, carburetor or fuel system.
